Remote iTunes Streaming to iPhone?

Per MacRumors, a new Apple patent application reveals work on making the iPhone (and iPod Touch) able to wirelessly stream content from their computer's iTunes library via WiFi or cellular for use on the road. At present, users must selectively sync content from their computer's iTunes library to transfer them to the iPhone for later playback.

Apple presently offers similar functionality through their Apple TV and Airport Express, but these are limited to local WiFi networks only. There is no word on when or if Apple will implement these features.
